2 - Date (European Division)

Preliminary

The Preliminary round for the European Division will be held on May 27, 2021, at Huzhou Yangtze Delta Human Resources Service and Convention Center. 

Contestants will present their projects via video pitch in Paris, France. Location will be communicated.

Final

The Final round for the European Division will be held on June 16, 2021, at Huzhou Yangtze Delta Human Resources Service and Convention Center. 

Contestants will present their projects via video pitch.

4 - Organization

Categories and Requirements

 

A. Four main categories have been strategically set: 

  • Digital Economy
  • Innovative Equipments and Appliances 
  • Health Technologies and Services
  • New Materials. 

 

B. Requirements for Startup Projects:

Participants, or main representatives of each projects, are required to have proof of their diploma issued by any institutions outside China. 

Participants, or main representatives of each projects, are under 50 years old. Should they have returned to China, the return date should not be before January 1, 2019. 

The subjects of the projects should be already patented and have entered a mature stage. Moreover, the subjects of the projects should be world leading and ahead of most of technologies or services of the same category in mainland China. 

 

C. Requirements for Innovation Projects:

If the participants, or main representatives of each projects, hold any doctoral degree issued by an institution in China:

  • They should be under 55 years old (ie. born after January 1, 1966). 
  • They should either have teaching experiences as scholars or experts in reputable universities or facilities outside China, or have held equivalent positions in any world renowned enterprises.  

 

Selection Process

At the qualification stage, the Association DFC (Développement France-Chine) will be in charge of the selection process.

 

Qualification

All the projects signed up for the competition will enter first and foremost and qualification stage. 

Each project will be evaluated and subsequently be qualified, or disqualified, by the organizers, according to the scoring program for the 4th CHINA-HUZHOU Global High-level Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the Implementation of "The Elite Plan for the Southern Taihu". 

Emphasis employed in the qualification process includes the rarity, the innovation and the level of advancement of the subjects, which should explicitly higher or more profound than existing technologies or services of the same category in China. 

In a general evaluation, organizers will further look at whether the project has a significant market potential and, especially, the possibility of landing in Huzhou. 

Authenticity of the project will be subject to scrutiny.

 

5 - Pitch Dates

Preliminary

The Preliminary round will be held between 9am and 2pm Central European Time (between 4pm and 9pm Beijing Time) on May 30, 2021, at Huzhou Yangtze Delta Human Resources Service and Convention Center. 

20 contestants/teams will present their projects via Zoom conference. 

Location will be communicated.

 

Final

The Final round will be held between 9am and 2pm Central European Time (between 4pm and 9pm Beijing Time) on June 16, 2021, at Huzhou Yangtze Delta Human Resources Service and Convention Center. 

12 contestants/teams will present their projects via video pitch.

 

Judging Criteria 

Preliminary European Division - Five judges will grade each project according to the scoring program for the 4th CHINA-HUZHOU Global High-level Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the Implementation of "The Elite Plan for the Southern Taihu". 12 projects will be selected to participate in the European Division Final. 

Final European Division - Five judges will grade each project according to the scoring program for the 4th CHINA-HUZHOU Global High-level Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the Implementation of "The Elite Plan for the Southern Taihu". 6 projects will be selected, within which one First Prize winner, two Second Prize winners and three Third Prize winners will be announced.

Semi-final in China - All six contestants in the European Division will then be qualified in the Semi-final in China.

 

6 - Prize and Aftermath Bonus

Awards 

For the European Division

  • 1st Prize:  ¥ 50,000 RMB and the Award Certificate
  • 2nd Prize: ¥ 30,000 RMB and the Award Certificate
  • 3rd Prize:  ¥ 10,000 RMB and the Award Certificate
  • All other contestants will be awarded an Honorable Mention Certificates and Participants Certificates. Their projects will enter Huzhou Talent Recruitment Program for possible subsequent development. 

 For "Global Talent" Grand Final

  • Awards for the Grand Final of The Fourth Edition of "Global Talent" International Startup and Innovation Pitch Competition will be a coefficient to the participant's own salary: 
  • Award category A+: 70% of the participant's salary, capped at ¥ 10,000,000 RMB in five years
  • Award category A: 70% of the participant's salary, capped at ¥ 5,000,000 RMB in five years
  • Award category B: 60% of the participant's salary, capped at ¥ 3,000,000 RMB in five years
  • Award category C: 50% of the participant's salary, capped at ¥ 2,000,000 RMB in five years 

 

Travel Expense 

Should the projects enter Semi-final in China, travel expense arrangement will be implemented accordingly: 

  • For any participant from Europe or America: ¥ 10000 RMB / person
  • For any participant from the Asian Pacific: ¥ 5000 RMB / person
  • For any Mainland China participant (Zhejiang excluded): ¥ 2000 RMB / person
  • For any participant from Zhejiang: ¥ 1000 RMB / person

* For every project, the organizers will accept the claim of travel expenses of only one person.

 

7 - Support

Huzhou government will stay actively engaged in promoting the winning teams and in helping their projects to develop in Huzhou. 

Apart from financial and institutional support, winning projects will have access to funding, to favourable loan discount and to other remuneration packages from the local government. Huzhou government provides strong support, should your team and projects apply for further grants on provincial and national levels. 

Family members will be among the beneficiaries of the above directives.
